Fear, Greed, and Risk Capital - MMM #26
Hi there,
On Friday I finished up my second to last course at LSE with an in-class exam. Today I’ll be starting the most intense course of all: an entire course in a week. It’ll be followed by a trip to Glasgow to put theory into practice.
📃In today’s Monday Morning Mashup:
⭐Highlight: Fear, Greed, and Risk Capital
💰Investing: Stocks ain’t doing too great
🎓Skills: Intro to Excel Wizardry
Have a great week!
⭐Highlight: Fear, Greed, and Risk Capital
A bit of a long read highlight this week but well worth it if you want to understand the underlying causes of the recent market downturn. Dr. Damodaran published an extensive write-up this week about the impact of fear and greed through the availability (and demand for) risky vs. risk-free assets. Check it out.
Musings on Markets: Risk Capital and Markets: A Temporary Retreat or Long Term Pull Back?
💰Investing: Stocks ain't doing too great
Continuing our theme for the week, the New York Times published a great overview of just how historic this downturn is. It goes into depth on a variety of topics, from inflation, to recession probability.
After Stock Market’s Worst Start in 50 Years, Some See More Pain Ahead - The New York Times
At the halfway point of the year, it’s been a historically horrible time for stocks. Bonds are in bad shape, too.
🎓Skills: Intro to Excel Wizardry
The last two weeks I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Excel (for a change 😄). Working on a laptop I’m now able to hide the entire ribbon (the toolbar on top) because I once followed this course on Excel shortcuts. Check it out below if you want to get much quicker at every day operations.
